FG Graduates 50 Mechanics As First Batch Of CNG Conversion Technicians In Borno

The Federal Government has graduated its first batch of technicians trained to convert petrol-powered vehicles to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in Borno State.

The two-week intensive training was organised by the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) in collaboration with indigenous firm Jennymond System, as part of a nationwide initiative to upskill mechanics and provide cheaper, cleaner energy alternatives.

Speaking during the closing ceremony in Maiduguri yesterday, Jennymond System representative, Mr. Oloruntobi James, commended President Bola Tinubu for the initiative, noting it offers sustainable economic opportunities for youths.

He revealed 50 mechanics from Borno chapter of Nigeria Automobile Technical Association (NATA) formed an inaugural set.

James urged beneficiaries to immediately deploy their skills, step down training to colleagues, and prepare for subsequent phases as government approvals expand. Each graduate received a complete CNG conversion toolbox.

One of beneficiaries, Adamu Abdullahi, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government and Borno State Government, noting hands-on training broadened their technical expertise, specifically on dual-fuel mechanics that allow seamless switching between petrol and CNG when fuel runs out.
