“We Face A Genocidal Mindset That Can Never Get Enough Of Killing” – Erdogan Blasts Israel At UNGA

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan delivered a blistering address at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Monday, condemning Israeli actions in Gaza and the occupied West Bank as genocide.

In a speech that forced the Israeli delegation to walk out while Palestinian representatives applauded, Erdogan said the world is facing a genocidal mindset that can never get enough of killing in Gaza.

He said, “With the support of Trump, we contributed to a ceasefire. But despite this so-called ceasefire, more than 1,300 civilians have been murdered in Gaza.”

Erdogan said although Hamas and other Palestinian groups have accepted the second phase of the October ceasefire framework agreement, Israel is not putting an end to its actions in Gaza and the West Bank is going through the most challenging time as illegal Israeli settlers occupy the region.

Describing Gaza in the most brutal terms, he said, “Gaza is the most inhumane, most shameful concentration camp of our time. We face a genocidal mindset that can never get enough of killing. No one with humanity, mercy or conscience can turn a blind eye.”

Erdogan also slammed the United Nations itself, saying it has failed to fulfil its obligations to establish peace and stability in conflict zones. He said 81 years after it was formed to preserve global peace, the UN has failed and has been forced into dysfunction.

He said the UN is “bleeding out” in Palestine, Lebanon and Sudan.

He also addressed the absence of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas after the US denied him a visa to enter the country for the second time in two years, saying although Abbas is unable to be present, Turkiye will continue to be the voice of a free and sovereign state of Palestine.
