ADC Youth Coordinator Zulkifilu Dalhatu Dumps Party After Being Denied Online Media Head In Presidential Campaign List

A youth coordinator of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Arc. Zulkifilu Dalhatu Yahuza, has announced his resignation from the party over alleged injustice in the appointment of the head of online media for the presidential campaign council.

Yahuza, in a video address delivered in Hausa said the main reason for his resignation was that he was passed over for the online media leadership position despite assurances from top leaders of the coalition.

According to him, his supporters, especially youths, had been asking about happenings in the party, prompting him to publicly explain his decision to leave.

Yahuza said the wife of the Waziri of Adamawa, Momi Titi Abubakar, had confirmed to Alhaji Kashim Imam, the Matawalle of Borno, that he should be given the leadership of the online media department based on his sacrifices and commitment to the movement.

He said Kashim Imam acknowledged his efforts at his residence in Abuja and led him to meet the Waziri of Adamawa, Atiku Abubakar, that same night. He said Atiku agreed that he should head the department and that the matter was settled before all parties present.

The architect and youth advocate said upon returning, it was agreed that he would lead the online media team for the presidential campaign. However, when the official campaign council list was released, he saw a different name appointed as head of online media.

Yahuza said the appointment of the new person, identified as Moji Rhodes-vivour, deeply hurt him, describing her as someone who was not part of the formation of the ADC coalition and does not know about media operations.

He said he would have accepted if the person appointed was more qualified than him, but that it was unacceptable to be asked to work under someone he considers less qualified and with minimal social media presence.

The former ADC youth leader questioned where justice and fairness were in the party, recalling that he attended over 100 coalition meetings, enduring hunger, thirst and harsh weather without financial support.

He said the coalition agreement with the ADC was based on youth inclusion and giving young people opportunities to contribute, but that deceit, injustice and unfairness had marred internal processes, including primary elections.

Yahuza said youths had been calling him day and night and he had been appealing to them to be patient, hoping that leadership opportunities in online media and campaign strategy would come, only for the position to be given to someone else due to selfish interest.

He said if the pattern continues, youths would be sidelined even if a government is formed, describing it as a major setback for the party and for young people mobilized to support the movement.

He disclosed that someone called him to be patient for government formation, but he questioned what would be the difference between the APC and the ADC if a government is not built on justice and truth.

“What will be the difference between APC and ADC? What is the difference between Tinubu and those we are trying to promote in our movement? If injustice begins now during the campaign, what should we expect when the government is formed?” he asked.

Yahuza said he was not insulting anyone but had decided to wash his hands off the party and return to being independent, citing legal battles, personal risks and struggles endured during the coalition building.

“I hereby inform you that I have left the ADC party. I have washed my hands of it and returned to being independent,” he said, leaving his affairs to God.

As of press time, the ADC and the Atiku campaign council have not officially reacted to his resignation.

Arc. Zulkifilu Dalhatu Yahuza is known as a youth activist and coordinator within the ADC coalition backing Atiku Abubakar. His resignation highlights growing discontent among youth members over appointments into the ADC presidential campaign council, which is serving as the platform for the opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 elections.

Key figures mentioned in his address include Atiku Abubakar, Waziri of Adamawa, his wife Titi Abubakar, and Alhaji Kashim Imam, former BOT Chairman and Matawalle of Borno.
