El-Rufai Alone Is Bigger Than All APC Governors Combined, Tinubu Knows What El-rufai Can Do — ADC Chieftain Blows Hot After Atiku Appointed Him Deputy Campaign Chairman From ICPC Custody
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Ibrahim Kalgo, has described the appointment of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, as Deputy Chairman of Atiku Abubakar’s Presidential Campaign Council as a “Bat-Signal” to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Speaking on Trust TV on Thursday, Kalgo said the mere mention of El-Rufai’s name sends shockwaves through the APC because President Bola Tinubu knows what El-Rufai is capable of doing.
“Just by hearing the name Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, it’s actually threatening and sends a signal — like a Bat-Signal — to the APC entirely. Because Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, just only him, is bigger than all the APC governors, and President Bola Tinubu really knows and understands what Mallam Nasir El-Rufai can do,” Kalgo said.
He claimed El-Rufai was the architect of Tinubu’s 2023 victory, being the only person from the North who stood by him, did all the strategy work and mobilized Northern voters for him.
“He knows that Nasir El-Rufai was the person that actually brought him into power. He was the only person from the North who stood by him, did all the strategy work, gained popularity from the North, and then mobilized people in the North to see that they voted for him,” he said.
Kalgo said fortunately for the ADC, El-Rufai is now on their side, describing it as a big advantage and a win-win.
“And then, fortunately for the ADC and Bola Tinubu now… El-Rufai is on the ADC side, which is a big advantage to it. So, just the name alone — Nasir El-Rufai — it’s a win-win for ADC. And even wherever he is, he will contribute massively, because he’s somebody that engineered, he’s a mobilizer, he’s somebody that pulls crowds, and he knows how to defeat sitting governments,” he stated.
Reacting to questions about the legal implications of appointing someone who is still in ICPC custody, Kalgo insisted the APC is keeping El-Rufai in detention because they are afraid of him.
“The APC are very much afraid of him; that’s why they are still keeping him in custody off to date,” he said.
“He is bigger than the entire APC governors; he’s bigger than the entire APC structure in the North. With him as Deputy Chairman of the campaign council, you can imagine his supporters, and you can imagine how he’s going to contribute. No matter how it is, even if he’s in custody, there are some things that he can chip in, and there are some things he can show the way on how to win this election.”
Kalgo expressed confidence that El-Rufai will get justice and be out in the next few weeks, adding that even if the government decides to keep him till after the election, Atiku will release him as President.
“This government can do anything, and they are very much afraid because they know the people are no longer with them. So they can keep him if they want to keep him, but no matter what they do, he’s going to get freedom sooner or later. Even if they decide to keep him till after the election, by May 29th, the new President — hopefully, Insha’Allah, Atiku Abubakar — is going to release him. So it’s a matter of time.
“With or without the APC government releasing him, like I said earlier, he’s somebody that can contribute from anywhere he is. He’s a mobilizer, he’s a mover, he’s the person that brought in the APC government, and I believe he’s going to help in removing them out of power by 2027,” Kalgo added.
He accused the APC of using the judiciary, ICPC and EFCC to hunt opposition, saying Nigerians have already rejected the ruling party.
“The APC have always used the judiciary and all these kind of corruption cases to hunt the opposition. They have been doing this for a very long time; this isn’t the first time, and we are used to it. Whatever they want to do, let them keep doing it. Nigerians have already rejected them,” he said.
Kalgo further predicted that President Tinubu will come third in the 2027 election, losing votes in the North and South to Atiku and Peter Obi.
“They already know that APC cannot campaign in the North; it’s now like a battleground for the APC. They can’t even go to campaign anywhere in the North. And then you can see, even from the South, most of the votes that he got from the South, I’m sure it’s going to be taken by Atiku and Peter Obi as well. So we are watching, and Tinubu comes third in the general election,” he concluded.[Tinubu]
