FG Approves ₦1.5 Trillion For Reconstruction And Dualisation Of Lambata-Bida-Mokwa-Kontagora Highway
The Federal Government has approved ₦1.5 trillion for the reconstruction and dualisation of the Lambata–Bida–Mokwa–Makera–Kontagora Federal Highway in Niger State.
The Niger State Government said the project will be formally flagged off with a groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 12 noon in Bida.
The highway is expected to improve connectivity across major communities in Niger State, while easing movement of people and goods along the corridor.
The project is also expected to boost economic activities and strengthen road links between Niger State and other parts of the country.
The Lambata-Bida-Mokwa-Kontag. ora axis is one of the busiest North-Central corridors linking Niger State to Kogi, Kwara and other states, and has suffered years of dilapidation, causing frequent accidents and heavy gridlock for trucks and passenger vehicles.
Once dualised and reconstructed, the road is expected to reduce travel time, cut logistics costs for farmers and traders, and improve security of movement along the route.
