Atiku Challenges Tinubu After APC Spokesman Alwan Hassan Admits Ministers Paid Billions To Get Appointed
Former Vice President and ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has challenged President Bola Tinubu to reveal who collected billions of naira allegedly paid by ministers to secure their appointments.
Reacting on his X handle, Atiku wrote:
“Bola, your campaign spokesman has admitted that ministers paid billions in bribes to secure their appointments. You appointed them, so who received the money? Nigerians deserve names, not silence.”
“Your government’s reckless decisions have driven the cost-of-living crisis. And when you withhold funds from ministries because you distrust your own ministers, Nigerians are left paying for a government that has abandoned them.”
Alwan Hassan, spokesperson for the APC Presidential Campaign Council, had alleged on Arise News on Thursday that ministers pay billions to get appointed and then loot to recoup the money.
“Every time a government goes out, the most criminal elements in government are ministers,” Hassan said.
“A lot of ministers pay billions to be appointed, and the first thing they think of is how to recoup that money after being appointed. It is the truth about our country and not just APC ministers; it started before the APC. The biggest fraudulent people you arrest after every government are ministers.”
Hassan also questioned why budgets are given to ministers at all: “Why do we need ministers? Why do we need budget to be given to ministers?”
The APC spokesman, who also claimed Tinubu approved over ₦4 trillion for electricity meters and renovated 287 primary schools, made the explosive admission while defending Tinubu’s performance ahead of the 2027 elections.
