I Want To Leave Aso Rock In 2031 — Remi Tinubu Says She Wants To Enjoy Nigeria At 70+
First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has expressed the desire to leave the Presidential Villa in Abuja by 2031.
She said this at the inauguration of the Abuja headquarters of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, a grassroots mobilisation group campaigning for the president’s return to office in 2027.
“I want to leave Aso Rock, in 2031, by the grace of God, and enter a Nigeria that me as a 70-something-year-old woman will enjoy,” she said.
Mrs Tinubu cited “improvements” in the country’s airports as evidence of progress and said she wanted to be able to travel more conveniently: “I want to get to the airport. I want to travel, you know, so quickly. And you can see our airports too are changing.”
At the event, the First Lady commissioned the movement’s Abuja headquarters and dedicated the facility to the president’s anticipated victory in the 2027 election.
“So to the glory of God, and for the victory of Mr President come 2027, I hereby formally commission the PBAT door-to-door movement campaign headquarters Abuja,” she said.
She also expressed support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, the movement’s convener.
Daily Trust reports that her remarks reflect a pattern of public defence of her husband’s leadership — from “Don’t worry, we will fix it” in October 2022, to “My husband is not a magician” at an Independence Day service in October 2023, and “We are not the cause of the current situation, we are trying to fix it” in October 2024 at the Ooni of Ife’s palace.
