Rarara Admits Collecting N500m + N50m From Ex-Governor Yari For Tinubu Campaign

Prominent APC political singer, Dauda Kahutu Rarara, has admitted that former Zamfara State Governor and APC presidential campaign director, Abdulaziz Yari, gave his Triple-R movement N500 million to start campaigning for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and an additional N50 million for fuel and food.

Rarara made the confession in an exclusive interview with BBC Hausa, where he was confronted with allegations that he uses his group members to collect massive funds from politicians without giving them their fair share.

Responding to claims that a presidential campaign director, Abdullaziz yari gave the group N500 million, Rarara clarified the amount and purpose of the funds.

“There is this N500 million, he agreed to give us money to start this campaign movement for Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Besides that 500 million, he gave us — 50 million and said that was for fuel and food. The other sum was provided for us to kickstart the necessary campaign activities, and once completed he asked us to submit a formal budget for whatever additional amount we needed,” he said.

Initially, when asked how much exactly Yari gave them and when he would distribute the logistics money to his members, Rarara declined to give a full disclosure and defended the spending.

“No, why should I disclose that to you? Is that something the public specifically asked you to inquire about?” he told the interviewer.

He insisted the organization operates under rules and that the money was strictly for work.

“When we travel, won’t we eat? Won’t we lodge in hotels? Won’t we fuel our vehicles? That N50 million was for fuel and food, the N500 million was for work we did,” he said.

Rarara dismissed members accusing him of financial exploitation, saying they are simply after money.

“Anyone raising these issues is simply targeting money. As the saying goes, the speaker might be a fool, but the listener shouldn’t be one,” he said.

In the same interview, Rarara also defended President Tinubu’s economic reforms amid complaints of severe hardship and fuel selling above N1,500 per litre in some parts of the country.

“My justification is that Tinubu does not lie or deceive; he is fixing this country. If we don’t fix it now, someone else will eventually have to, or else the country will collapse,” he said.

On fuel price, he said: “I don’t have deep technical knowledge about NNPCL or the oil sector. But I have global awareness — there is an ongoing conflict involving Iran. I won’t claim fuel is cheap everywhere, but despite everything, Nigeria still has relatively affordable fuel compared to many.”

He compared Nigeria’s economy to a broken leg that cannot be expected to stand and run immediately.

“Whenever reforms are being made, patience is required. Out of about ten or five major food items, relief has come to three, and efforts are ongoing for the rest, so people need to be patient. They said fertilizer prices are expected to drop next, and God willing, that will happen too,” Rarara said.

He maintained that Tinubu’s vision is not for today or tomorrow, but for the next 10 to 20 years.
