Outrage As Lagos Agbero Harasses Hausa Nail Cutter Over Ticket Money In Viral Market Video
A video posted on X [formerly Twitter] by CHUKS @ChuksEricE has sparked outrage after capturing the moment an Yoruba Agbero in Lagos demanded ticket money from an itinerant Hausa nail cutter.
The footage shows the Yoruba Agbero physically confronting the young Hausa nail cutter, threatening to tear his bag and seize his belongings if he fails to pay the daily levy. The nail cutter, holding tightly to his satchel, refused to engage aggressively, while an older Hausa bystander in a green outfit intervened, repeatedly calling the Agbero “Yusuf” and urging him to “leave am.”
The incident has triggered a wave of reactions on X, with users condemning street-level extortion targeting low-income workers.

Ossai Ofili (OO) @JamesME… questioned the legality of the act: “Why are these people terrorising Nigerians in Lagos, do they know that they are committing treason against the Nigerian State? Our Constitution gives every Nigerian the right to live, work & do business in every part of Nigeria without harassment, victimisation or intimidation.”
Damifx @Bigdami210 expressed sympathy: “This one actually hurts. Imagine struggling to make a living by cutting nails, only for someone to show up demanding money from you just because you’re trying to survive. How did survival become this difficult?”

Jackson Johnny @JohnnyDewattsj, in a post with 1.9K views, said: “You see the sense of entitlement, so the nail cutter will be walking under the sun to come pay sitting idle. 1vs1 that nail cutter guy will beat the idiot”
iPledge2Nigeria @pledge… linked the act to larger governance issues: “The question is who gave these agbero the mandate to carry out these unlawful acts which cascades to the likes of Wike, opekpholo, LG chairman & senators? The answer my citizens is blowing in our conscience to bring sanity back to our country.”
AthernOris Duru-Nwa @ath… recalled a similar experience: “The day I know say these agberos no get sense was when I saw them stopping barrow pushers and hawkers to collect owo da…. Omo, they’re animals”
Big bag @Bigbagxw also condemned the extortion, urging youths to work rather than extort street hustlers.
The video has renewed calls for the Lagos State Government to clamp down on unchecked Agbero activities and protect micro-entrepreneurs struggling to earn a living.
