BREAKING: Gov. Abba Yusuf Reconciles Barau Jibrin, Abba Bichi Over Kano APC Feud
Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has brokered peace between two top APC leaders in Kano — Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin and Chairman, House Committee on Appropriations, Hon. Abubakar Kabir Bichi — ending months of political rivalry that threatened party unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The reconciliation meeting was held in the early hours of Wednesday, October 8, 2026, in Abuja and lasted for about two hours.

According to a press statement issued on Tuesday by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House Kano, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the meeting was convened to strengthen unity and cohesion within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State.
Governor Yusuf, who led the truce, urged both Senator Barau and Hon. Bichi and their supporters to sheathe their swords and put the collective interest of the party above personal differences.
He said the APC cannot afford internal divisions if it must deliver victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Kano State Government and all APC candidates in 2027.
“Political disagreements are part of democratic engagement, but such differences should not be allowed to undermine the unity, stability and progress of the party,” the Governor said.
Yusuf specifically warned supporters of both camps to stop inflammatory statements, character assassination and social media attacks.
“Henceforth, I do not expect any of your supporters to come out and abuse one another. We must put a stop to this unnecessary distractions,” he warned.
The Governor added that the reconciliation process was blessed and endorsed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and assured the President, the APC National Chairman, the State Chairman and all stakeholders that the APC is set to win all elective positions in Kano in 2027.
In their separate responses, Senator Barau Jibrin and Hon. Abba Bichi commended Governor Yusuf for his timely intervention, cautioned their supporters against fueling internal crisis, and pledged loyalty and commitment to the success of the APC at all levels in Kano and nationally.
The feud between Barau and Bichi, both influential APC figures from Kano North, had in recent months polarised party supporters in the state, with loyalists engaging in open media attacks.
With this reconciliation, the Kano APC leadership says it has closed a major crack that could have affected its 2027 mobilisation.
