“I Spent Almost N70 To N80 Million On Dijama” — Kannywood Actor Abale

Popular Kannywood actor and filmmaker, Adam Abdullahi Adam, popularly known as Daddy Hikima and Abale, has revealed that he spent between N70 million to N80 million on his new epic film titled ‘Dijama’.

Abale disclosed this in an exclusive interview with RFI Hausa at the film’s premiere in Kano, saying the huge investment was to deliver an unmatched cinematic experience to Hausa film lovers.

“At the very least, the money I spent on this production titled ‘Dijama’ is almost 70 to 80 million. 70 to 80 million is what I invested in this film project, ‘Dijama’. And God willing, it will yield returns along with profit,” he said.[Naira]

He explained that ‘Dijama’ is not a regular Kannywood film, noting that the title is the name of a heroine who came from a town where she displayed bravery and love.

“In short, ‘Dijama’ is the character name of a heroine. She is a heroine from a certain town where she displays her bravery and her love story. It breaks romance tropes, alters local sorcery themes, and brings something fresh. Even the love story is not the usual everyday romance people are used to seeing. The storyline is truly captivating because it stands out from other stories,” Abale said.

On why he spent that much, the actor said the cost came from the execution and locations.

“The reason for such heavy spending lies in how the production was executed. You’ll see locations, like a town we traveled to with our crew. We spent 10 to 15 days there. The transformation we achieved gives me confidence that, God willing, viewers will witness something brand new that has never been done before,” he added.

Kannywood veterans who graced the premiere commended the project.

Actress Hadiza Muhammad said the film is completely different from what audiences are used to.

“For those who are used to seeing similar movies, honestly, this one is completely different. This is a new concept, a modern approach, where viewers will want to see what unfolds in this era and in this setting,” she said.

Actor Tijjani Abdullahi Asase also praised Abale’s courage, saying he saluted him the moment he read the script.

“From the moment he showed me the script and I read it, right then I tipped my hat to him. Because I joined the film industry before him and have more experience. Truly, the amount of money he invested in this project is remarkable,” Asase said.

With its N80 million budget and ambitious scope, industry watchers say ‘Dijama’ is set to redefine standards for high-production storytelling in Kannywood.
