Kano Hisbah Boss Sheikh Daurawa: ‘I’m Not A Politician, I Won’t Campaign For Anyone’

Commandant-General of Kano State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, has said he is not a politician and will not campaign for any politician ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Daily Trust had reported that the cleric and the immediate past chairman of NAHCON, Sheikh Abdullahi Saleh Pakistan, among other clerics, were named in the Kano APC Presidential and Gubernatorial Campaign Advisory Committee list released by Kano State APC chairman, Hon. Umar Haruna Doguwa, a move that drew criticism.

But in a Facebook post in Hausa on Saturday, Daurawa said:

“I am not a politician and I will not campaign for anyone. However, I hope that whoever will uphold justice, show compassion for the poor, defend their rights and work to improve their lives will be granted victory by Allah.”

“May Allah grant us leaders who are truthful, trustworthy and God-fearing, who will put the interest of the people above their personal interests. Amin, Ya Rabbal Alamen.”

Although Daurawa did not directly address his inclusion in the committee, his statement comes amid criticism of the involvement of religious leaders in partisan political activities ahead of the elections.
