“A Baby Without Clothes Shivering In The Bush” — Imam Ismail Weeps, Rains Curses On Bandits Over Abducted Kaduna Family
A prominent Islamic cleric, Imam Ismail Maiduguri, wept in a video as he condemned the abduction of Ahmed Zakka, his wife and their infant daughter, who were kidnapped from Alrahus Estate in Millennium City, Chikun LGA of Kaduna State.
The family is currently held in a forest hideout, with their captors demanding a staggering ₦300 million ransom. A distressing video of the family pleading for help had earlier surfaced online, showing the baby half-naked and shivering in the bush.
Moved to tears by the condition of the infant, Imam Maiduguri directed his anger at the bandits, questioning their conscience and faith. “Is there no man of conscience among you? Is every single one of you devoid of a conscience? A small girl — without even a shirt on her body, in the bush, shivering, looking left and right, showing you guns,” he lamented.
He warned the kidnappers of divine judgement, asking if they were not afraid of death and accountability on the Day of Judgment. “Do you think you will never die? Do you think there is no Judgment Day? Fear Allah!” he said in the emotionally charged address.
The cleric did not spare the authorities and elites, accusing leaders, security personnel, politicians and business figures of having a hand in the continued abduction of innocent women and children. He prayed for Allah to disgrace, strip and destroy anyone profiting from or enabling the kidnapping crisis.
As of press time, security agencies are yet to issue an official statement on the abduction, even as public outrage continues to grow over the plight of the Zakka family and the heartbreaking sight of their baby in captivity.
