Adamawa Police Arrest 3 Over Killing Of Tea Seller Over N50 In Nassarawo Banga

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the killing of a young tea seller, Muhammad Auwal Idris, in Nassarawo Banga, Jimeta.

Sources confirmed that the suspects, among those earlier declared wanted, have been apprehended and are now in police custody.

The suspects

The arrest comes days after the Command issued a press release on 29th September, 2026, signed by its Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, ANIPR.

In the earlier release, the Police said one Aliyu Idris, brother of the deceased, reported at Doubeli Divisional Headquarters on 28th September, 2026 that his younger brother was allegedly attacked by four individuals — identified as Isa, Japhet, Omo and Henry.

According to the release, operatives were mobilized to the scene where the victim was found lying unconscious. He was evacuated to hospital but was certified dead by the medical doctor. His remains were deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.

The Command had then said the suspects were at large and urged residents of Nassarawo and Banga to remain calm and provide credible information.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, fdc, had strongly condemned the incident and directed operatives to intensify efforts to track and bring the suspects to justice, assuring that anyone found culpable will face the full weight of the law.

The Deceased

Community accounts said the deceased, popularly known as Mai Shayi Nassarawo Banga, was allegedly beaten to death after demanding N50 owed for tea he sold.

Residents have commended the Police for swift action and called for due process, while renewing calls on the Adamawa State Government to take lawful action against drinking houses in Banga which they allege fuel violence and drug abuse.

The Police are expected to give further updates as investigation continues.
