Driver Foils Trafficking Attempt As Police Rescue 3 Girls Aged 5, 6 In Taraba, Arrest 2 Women

Police in Taraba State have arrested two women for allegedly attempting to traffic three girls from Jalingo to Adamawa State.
According to Daily Trust report, the suspects, described as single women from the South-East who rented a room in the same compound where the parents live about two weeks ago, were arrested at a filling station on Thursday morning.
Daily Trust gathered they deceived the mothers, asking to take the children — Ummul Shuaibu, Ummul Baba Gasal and Amina Abubakar, aged 5-6 — to the market, but instead took them to a motor park in Jalingo and chartered a vehicle to Adamawa.
The driver became suspicious because the girls did not resemble the women, alerting his union, who informed the police.
At the police headquarters, the women allegedly admitted to the act.
The father of one of the victims, Abubakar Kwalli, said fathers were invited to identify the girls: “We were surprised to see our children at the police headquarters… We were directed to bring our wives to further identify the children.”
“When the girls saw their mothers, each of them rushed to her mother crying,” he said.
Police PRO, ASP Victor Mshelizah confirmed the arrest, saying investigation is ongoing.
