Footballer Zaidu Sanusi Donates ₦10m To Widows, Plans Hospital, Orphanage In Hometown — Sheikh Daurawa

Super Eagles and FC Porto defender Zaidu Sanusi has earned glowing praise for his philanthropic initiatives in Nigeria, including a ₦10 million donation to widows in Kano State and plans to build a hospital and orphanage in his home state.
Speaking during an address to the Hausa diaspora community in Germany, renowned Islamic scholar and Kano State Hisbah Commander-General, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, shared details of a recent meeting with the football star. According to Sheikh Daurawa, Sanusi visited him in Kano to seek assistance in identifying 100 widows in the Dalla Local Government Area, providing each with ₦100,000 as seed capital to establish independent businesses.
“Zaidu told me, ‘I only play football, but I have made enough money to help our town—repair our roads, uplift our neighborhood, and assist my relatives so they can benefit from my career,'” Sheikh Daurawa recounted.
Beyond the direct cash grants, Sanusi revealed broader community-building projects, including constructing a local hospital, founding an orphanage, and providing business capital to youth and family members in his community.
Sheikh Daurawa used Sanusi’s actions as a primary example to urge Nigerians living abroad to utilize their talents, pursue education, and remain dedicated to supporting their families and communities back home through humanitarian activities.
