“He Is Running After His Father” — President Tinubu Clears Air On Seyi’s Political Ambition

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has addressed speculations over the alleged elective political ambitions of his son, Seyi Tinubu, saying he is not running for any office but running after his father.

Tinubu spoke on Monday in Abuja during a special event organised by the City Boy Movement titled “An Evening with the Original City Boy.”

The President said he had received several calls in recent weeks over Seyi’s activities with the City Boy Movement.

“Now permit me a personal moment, with my son, Seyi. I have watched what you’ve started with City Boy. I got some calls within the last few weeks asking me what is Seyi running for. He’s running after his father,” Tinubu said.

He commended Seyi and his colleagues for investing their time effectively in grassroots mobilisation without demanding title or office.

“You and your young colleagues, you are investing your time effectively. We are with you. Thank you. You did it humbly. You did not ask for a title or an office,” the President said.

Tinubu challenged his son to do more in service to the country, describing service as the highest honour.

“But I will tell you what every father tells his son. You have only started. Do more. Go further. Serve harder. Set an example that your own children, my grandchildren, will be proud to follow.

“Nigeria is watching so they know that to serve your country is the highest honour,” he added.

The event brought together key political figures, youth leaders and coordinators of the City Boy Movement as part of ongoing nationwide youth engagements.
