‘It’s Ridiculous!’ — BKO Dismisses Atiku’s Claim That Tinubu Is 90 Years Old

Veteran journalist and Director of News at TVC, Babajide Kolade-Otitoju (BKO), has dismissed claim by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar that President Bola Tinubu is 90 years old instead of officially documented 74.

BKO spoke on TVC News’ Issues with Jide with host Ibrahim Shitta.

“BKO, what would Atiku actually have to prove in court for this case to have legal consequences?”

“Right. Atiku is a perennial litigant and he has a history of losing in court. And from some of his recent comments, he also has little or no regard for the Nigerian court, but it was the Nigerian courts that backed him to the hilt when he had his issues with President—I mean, President Olusegun Obasanjo. Obasanjo wanted to sack him before end of their tenure, and Supreme Court made it clear that you have a joint ticket with him, you cannot remove him. Obasanjo suffered back-to-back losses to Atiku.

“But Atiku clearly has forgotten that, given kind of comments that he makes about the judiciary.

“Now, I wonder how he wants to prove before a court of law that Bola Tinubu is 90 years.

“MKO Abiola, whom everyone sees as a big uncle to Bola Tinubu, a big political uncle to him, even Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, Tinubu was his boy and like a big political uncle.

“MKO Abiola, if he were alive—if he had not died at time he died, he would be 89 today. So Atiku wants me to believe that Tinubu is older than MKO Abiola? MKO Abiola and my dad were born same year. So they want me to believe that Bola Tinubu is older than my dad? That’s no—no, it’s ridiculous! It’s ridiculous!

“Whether we like it or not, there are people who know the President very well. Some of them grew up together. They may not flaunt it, but they grew up together. There are people that they grew up with. So those people know that Bola Tinubu cannot be that old.”
