NDC To Members: Remain Calm, INEC Will Rectify Omission Of Gwarzo From Kano List
The Kano State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has urged members to remain calm as controversy rages over the omission of governorship candidate Aminu Abdussalam-Gwarzo from the INEC list released Saturday.
The party’s Public Relations Officer, Yusif Fasaha, made the call in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, in Kano, according to Premium Times.
“I want to assure you that as the PRO of the party, the problem is not from us. We have consulted the INEC, and they told us that the problem was from computer, and they will rectify it. So, everybody should remain calm; as from now to Monday, another list containing his name will be out,” he said.
He said that Abdussalam-Gwarzo had fulfilled all the requirements of the election, adding that “everything was done at the right time.”
“We have seen the list and will continue with consultation on the matter,” he said.
NAN observed that the list contained 17 gubernatorial candidates and their running mates from different political parties.
Governor Abba Yusuf’s name was on the list as the APC candidate with his deputy, Murtala Sule-Garo.
Other parties cleared are the ADC, PDP, APGA, BP, AA, AAC, LP, ZLP, SDP, APM, NDP, PRP, APP, DLA, ADP.
The list was signed by INEC Secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, and published on the commission’s website on Saturday for the February 6, 2027 governorship elections.
