The operations, conducted between September 23 and 24, 2026, led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, ammunition and other military items.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, troops of Sector 1 acted on the credible intelligence of the terrorist movement through the bushes of Rijana in Kachia LGA.
“Troops swiftly mobilised to the area, laid an ambush and engaged the terrorists on sighting,” the statement said.
Following the encounter, troops conducted exploitation of the general area, leading to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle and a magazine loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition, one magazine carrier and one military jungle hat, among other items.
In a separate operation on the same day, troops conducted a clearance operation at Awom village, also in Kachia LGA, aimed at denying terrorists and other criminal elements safe haven in the community.
During the clearance, troops arrested a suspected criminal identified as Mr. Jacob, who was found in possession of one fabricated pistol and seven rounds of ammunition.
The suspect is currently in military custody for further investigation.
The Theatre Command commended the troops for their vigilance, professionalism and prompt response during the operations, reassuring that troops remain resolute in sustaining offensive and clearance operations to thwart terrorist activities, deny criminal elements freedom of action and protect communities within the Joint Operations Area.
