Shettima To North: Tinubu Backed Atiku In 2007, Buhari In 2015, Now It’s Time To Repay Him In 2027

Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged northern Nigerians to stand by President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election, citing the president’s past support for northern political leaders.

Shettima said Tinubu had consistently supported northern presidential aspirants at critical moments in the country’s political history and deserved reciprocal loyalty from the region.

Speaking on Saturday at the APC presidential campaign flag-off at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna, Shettima recalled that Tinubu supported Atiku Abubakar when the former Vice-President left the PDP ahead of the 2007 election, supported Nuhu Ribadu in 2011 and backed Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 and 2019.

“This explains why we have all stood with him. To declare why Arewa support for you. This is a mark of honour and our faith in a man of honour,” he said.

“We have come to you with a heart full of gratitude. Gratitude for standing with us. Gratitude for believing in us,” Shettima added, defending the administration’s record.

He said the administration had delivered on education and infrastructure — citing the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, Federal University of Education, Zaria, vocational centres in Rigachikun, Soba and Samaru Kataf with over 4,000 graduates, and NELFUND for less-privileged students.

On infrastructure, Shettima listed the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline, Kano-Maradi Railway, Lagos-Kano rail corridor, Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Road and Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway as projects making progress.

He urged voters to renew the mandate of Governor Uba Sani and support APC continuity in 2027, saying Tinubu’s history of political cooperation across regional lines provides grounds for the North to sustain its relationship with the president.
