Tinubu, Atiku Seeking Power, Obi Seeking To Serve Nigerians — NDC Chieftain

NDC chieftain, Ibrahim Abdulkarim

A chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Ibrahim Abdulkarim, has said the major difference between President Bola Tinubu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi is that while Tinubu and Atiku are seeking power, Obi is seeking to serve.

Abdulkarim stated this on Tuesday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

According to him, Obi has shown courage to do what many big politicians and analysts who have sat on the same programme know is wrong with Nigeria but are afraid to say publicly.

“So leave that one aside. What we are really planning to do is that, you look at these three candidates. What is different between the three of them? Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar — they are looking for power. Mr. Peter Obi is seeking for service,” he said.

“He wants to come and offer himself to change what we feel the young people, we cannot do for ourselves. That’s the bottom line.”

Abdulkarim said many political elites know Nigeria’s problems and have solutions, but privately admit they cannot speak or act.

“A lot of politicians sat on this table. A lot of analysts sat on this table. I am sure what you are hearing on this chair is different in your conversation with them privately. Most of the big men in this country know the problem, know what is wrong with us, they have the solutions. Some will tell you, ‘Seun, I can’t say it.’ Some say, ‘We can’t do it’,” he said.

“But what we are trying to do is that we have seen somebody that has the courage, and he wants to do it.”

He said young Nigerians have decided to rally behind Obi to get the Nigeria they want.

“And we, the young Nigerians, we said we have to key ourselves and get the Nigeria that we want through this man. Because if we support him, we are not supporting him, we are supporting ourselves,” Abdulkarim added.
