Tinubu Would Have Capitalized El-Rufai Arrest If He Was In Opposition — VDM
Social media activist, VeryDarkMan, VDM, says President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would have capitalized on the arrest and detention of former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai if he were in opposition, describing Tinubu as the greatest politician Nigeria has ever produced.
VDM said Tinubu’s greatest strength is not economy or policy, but his ability to turn little opportunities into political gold — a quality he said Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi lack.
“You see, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains the greatest politician of all time. The greatest politician that I have ever lived in this country is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. And it’s for one reason: not for his economy, not for his policies. When it comes to the game of politics, he knows how to capitalize and take advantage of little opportunities and little situations,” VDM said in a viral video.
He recalled how Tinubu mobilized churches and Nigerians against former President Goodluck Jonathan over fuel price hike, with campaign that “Jonathan must go!” and even putting Jonathan in a coffin.
“This guy gathered churches, gathered everybody to come and campaign. That is the balls that other politicians don’t have. That is the balls that Atiku don’t have. That is the balls that Obi don’t have,” he said.
If Tinubu Was In Opposition Over El-Rufai
According to VDM, if Tinubu were in opposition today, he would have used El-Rufai’s arrest to tour the entire North.
“I swear to God, if it was another person that is the president, and El-Rufai and Tinubu were the people trying to take that seat, as they arrest El-Rufai, the kind mobilization where Tinubu for do, Tinubu would have used that to campaign against the person that is on seat. He would have gone round the whole Northern states to tell them that, ‘Oh, this person imprisoned your brother, one of the most loved person in the North. See what they are doing to him. Now imagine what they would do to you,'” VDM said.
“He go manipulate, strategize, gather people, gather crowd — ‘El-Rufai must be released, this one must go,'” he added.
Kaduna Flag-Off Flop Linked To El-Rufai
VDM said the real reason for the low turnout at Tinubu’s Kaduna flag-off is El-Rufai’s detention.
“Ordinarily, the governor of Kaduna is an APC governor. That whole place is supposed to be crowded. But Kaduna people didn’t come out. And even the youths that attended, they were very angry, they were vandalizing their posters, they were tearing their faces,” he said.
“Do you know why they did that? It’s because Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrested his government, detained Nasir El-Rufai. And Nasir El-Rufai is like the star boy of Kaduna. If election was free and fair in Kaduna State, I beat my chest to tell you that Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not get 1,000 votes.”
ADC Betrayed El-Rufai
VDM claimed El-Rufai had 70 percent hand in convincing the North to vote Tinubu in 2023, but later fell out and joined forces with people he does not like, including Atiku and Obi under ADC, to remove Tinubu.
He said after the arrest, his new allies abandoned him.
“These people were in a party together, they arrested El-Rufai, all of the party scatter. None of them stood by El-Rufai to put pressure on Tinubu to release him. They just made one or two tweets. They left him there. They betrayed El-Rufai,” VDM said.
He added that despite not being a fan of El-Rufai due to demolitions in Dagba, Abuja, where his family suffered, El-Rufai faced betrayal.
“They want APC, but their guy El-Rufai is locked up. And the present governor, they see him as a very big betrayer,” VDM concluded.
