Rescued Victims

In the early hours of August 28, troops of Sector 2 responded to a distress call over an attempted terrorist attack on a community in Kaura Namoda LGA, Zamfara. Later the same day, troops responded to terrorist activities around Kwanoni Village in Tsafe LGA, Zamfara. On arrival, troops made contact with terrorists attempting to abduct passengers travelling in 2 vehicles, engaged them in firefight forcing terrorists to withdraw. All 12 passengers were rescued, no casualty recorded among troops.

In a separate incident in Tambuwal LGA, Sokoto, terrorists attacked around Jabo Village. Troops responded decisively with superior firepower, compelling them to withdraw in disarray. Two civilians who sustained gunshot wounds were evacuated for medical attention, while troops continued to dominate the area.

“The successful rescue of the civilians and repulsion of the terrorist attack further demonstrates the determination and responsiveness of troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA in protecting lives and frustrating terrorist activities across the Joint Operations Area,” Danja said.
