Troops Foil Terrorist Plot, Neutralize IEDs On Zamfara Highway — Operation FANSAN YAMMA

Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA have averted a potential tragedy after recovering and neutralizing explosive devices planted by terrorists along a major highway in Zamfara State.

The explosives were planted along the Magami – Hannutara – Dansadau road in Maru Local Government Area of the state, with the intent to cause major havoc to commuters and residents.

According to a statement obtained by Northern Nigeria Hub, the troops acted on credible intelligence, secured the affected area and conducted a thorough search, identifying two spots where the Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs, were planted.

Consequently, an Explosive Ordnance Disposal, EOD, team was deployed to the scene. The team destroyed one device on the spot and safely recovered and rendered the second device harmless.

The troops have since intensified patrols and surveillance in the area to safeguard residents and prevent further threats.

Members of the public have been urged to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious objects or activities to the nearest security agency.
