“I Had My First Private Jet At 22 And Half, Now I Don’t Mind Taking Commercial” — Dangote

“Two wrongs cannot make a right,” the Divisional Police Officer of Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, Yusuf S., has told herders, begging them to shun reprisal after three herders were killed and about 50 cattle slaughtered.

Yusuf made the passionate appeal on Saturday while addressing mourners during the burial of the three herders at the Mangu Cemetery.

The victims were killed on Saturday while tending to their cattle around Alonghome community, Mangu LGA, in an attack that also left about 50 cattle dead.

According to the DPO, security forces including the police are trying their best to maintain law and order despite the rising violence, and urged all parties to support them in achieving peaceful coexistence.

“Two wrongs cannot make a right. Whatever is damaged requires repairs. If people continue to engage in reprisals, we will never live in peace. Therefore, I am appealing to you to shun reprisal. Let us come together and live in peace. Taking laws into our hands is not good. We must be allowed security agencies to do their jobs,” he said.

He assured that the police and other security agencies would do everything possible to fish out those responsible for the killing.

Speaking further, the DPO said he was deeply pained by the incident and vowed to collaborate with other security agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice.

“I am in deep sorrow over what happened to you. I am standing here before you in pain of what happened. I am not happy about what has happened because I was just taken off guard.

“We try our best every day to restore law and order in the area. We are assuring that we will investigate those responsible and bring and took them to directly to the Criminal Investigation Department. This is culpable homicide,” he said.

The DPO also called on Mangu residents to always report suspicious activity to the security forces to enable them act promptly before the situation escalates.

“We are security agencies and whatever happens around you, if we are called, we would come. Please call us at any time; we will respond and prevent any unforeseen problems,” he added.
