VDM Calls Out Plateau Cleric Rev. Dachomo Over U-Turn From Attacking Tinubu To Praying For Him

Controversial social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has called out Plateau State-based cleric, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, over his sudden turnaround from fiercely criticizing President Bola Tinubu to praying for his administration.

In a video that has now gone viral, Rev. Dachomo, a regional leader of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), was seen praying for Tinubu. The cleric said, “…nation. Pray for Tinubu and his administration. Whatever city planned against this administration in the name of Jesus, it has been uprooted in Jesus’ name, amen. A good, righteous leader…”

Reacting to the video, VDM said he was not surprised, noting that Dachomo had in the past made multiple videos crying out over insecurity in Plateau State, accusing the Tinubu government of failure and even calling on the United States to come and save Nigerians.

VDM recalled one of Dachomo’s past interviews on Channels Television where the cleric alleged a plot to Islamize Nigeria.

In the old clip replayed by VDM, Dachomo had said: “And Shettima is a Muslim. The president is a Muslim. Is that not complete genocide to Christians in the political world? A complete genocide. The way forward, remove Shettima. And I stand on it, a one way forward. They are displaying Islamic agenda. They want to control the whole country… They will enforce every Christian to become a Muslim by force, by force, by force.”

In another part of the old video, Dachomo said: “If the quarter people kill their cow or do something, and they will turn it round to say it is reprisal… I’ve said we are not going to stay like this because I can’t hand over my grandchildren to Islam. Because when suffering, starvation hunt them, they will go into slavery in this. And this is the agenda of Islamic terrorists to take over the nation.”

VDM, who played the old clips side by side with the new prayer video, questioned the sudden change.

“You were talking about Tinubu and Shettima wanting to Islamize Nigeria, how the Muslims are killing Christians… And then you move now, same Tinubu and Shettima when they wanted to Islamize Nigeria, now you are praying for them. It’s not a bad thing to pray for your leaders, but there’s something off,” VDM said.

He alleged that the turnaround shows that government controls religion.

“I want you people are surprised, and person like me and people like me are not surprised. Is because I know that the government controls religion. They control the church and they control the mosques. And I am one hundred and one percent sure that they would have reached out to this man. Because they carry you go Israel, abi where they carry you go? Next thing you see me they pray for Tinubu,” VDM claimed.

According to VDM, religion has become a tool in the hands of politicians to trap the minds of citizens and stop them from holding leaders accountable.

“To you, it is one God somewhere, it is a faith, it is Jesus Christ that will save you and all that. No, to these guys, all of this is just to trap your mind. To think that help is coming so that you will not request from them, you will not hold them accountable,” he said.

VDM also criticized the culture of praying for insecurity instead of demanding accountability for security votes and budgets.

“A lot of things that you pray for, you don’t need to pray for them. Tell me why we were praying for insecurity, why we are praying for insecurity, that God should protect us, when there is a budget, there’s a security vote, there’s a budget for security… You have the military, we have the police. Only Air Force alone, their budget now like two point something billion… And yet you are telling me to pray,” he said.

He added that he had deliberately never reposted Dachomo’s videos in the past because he suspected a time would come when the cleric would change his stance, saying his outbursts at some point looked like a quest for attention and were divisive.

“One of the things I wasn’t happy about is the way you get done emphasizing, oh, they want to Islamize Nigeria, that, bro, everybody was dying. The Christians were dying, the Muslims were dying… Everybody is being on the line, everybody,” VDM said.

He concluded by warning that more public figures would soon make similar U-turns that would shock Nigerians, insisting it is evidence of systemic co-optation.
