“We Wear Hijab To Abduct Children” — Christian Suspects Blessing John, Rose David Confess After Re-arrest In Abuja

Two suspected child abductors, Blessing John and Rose David, have been re-arrested by the FCT Police Command for allegedly kidnapping a little girl, after serving just four months in prison for abducting four children in 2023.
FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed this while parading the suspects on Wednesday.
Adeh said Blessing and Rose, who are from Benue and Enugu States respectively but reside in the FCT, were first arrested in 2023 for abducting four children from Dei-Dei and Lugbe areas. Two of the children, including twins, were recovered, while two others had already been sold to buyers in Port Harcourt for N1.5 million each.
“They were charged to court and served 4 months in Kuje. After serving their term, they went back to abduct this little girl,” Adeh said.
The PPRO revealed that the suspects use hijab as disguise to commit the crime despite being Christians.
“One funny thing about these people is that they will wear hijab. This is Blessing. She’s a Christian from Benue State, but she wears hijab like this. And she uses this hijab to abduct these children when they send them out on an errand,” she said.
During interrogation, Rose David admitted she spent four months in prison and returned to the crime.
When asked who introduced Blessing to the crime, Rose said: “It’s one lady that introduced me to it… Yes ma, I introduced Blessing.”
Blessing John, who was not jailed in 2023 because she had undergone surgery two weeks before the incident, also confessed.
Asked why she wears hijab as a Christian, she said: “I was born and brought up in Kano.”
Blessing broke down in tears: “It’s not good. I’m even judging myself. I can’t forgive myself… I’m already dying silently.”
Both suspects, who are married with children, begged for forgiveness and said their families would not be proud of them.
Adeh said the suspects would be charged to court again after investigation and urged residents to be vigilant.
“If you see something, please say something. And also for the mothers: Pay attention to your kids. Don’t send your kids out without an adult,” she warned.
