Yobe Court Sentences 45-Year-Old Man To Death By Hanging For Killing Wife

The Yobe State High Court 1 sitting in Damaturu has sentenced a 45-year-old man, Abubakar Musa, popularly known as Daddy, to death by hanging for killing his wife, Ammi Mamman in 2024.

Musa was arrested by the Nigerian Police, Yobe State Command, on January 4, 2024, after he allegedly killed his wife at New Bra-Bra Housing Estate, Damaturu, and was subsequently charged with culpable homicide.

Delivering judgment two years after the incident, the Judge of High Court 1 rejected the defendant’s plea of not guilty, noting that based on evidence before the court, the plea was not plausible.

The court held that the prosecution was able to establish all the ingredients of culpable homicide and proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.

By law, the convict is at liberty to appeal the judgment within the stipulated days, failure of which will lead to full implementation of the sentence.
