Katsina Poet Safiyya Mukhtar Tody Advances To Abuja Regional Finals Of MPS Media Poetry Challenge
Katsina-born spoken word poet, Safiyya Mukhtar Tody, has qualified for the Regional Finals of the MPS Media Poetry Challenge in Abuja after scaling through three tough stages of the competition.
Safiyya, who announced her success on Saturday, said she entered the competition without knowing how far the journey would take her.

“Alhamdulillah I finally get to share this with you. I applied for the MPS Media Poetry Challenge without knowing how far this journey will take me,” she said.
She was selected for the competition and traveled to Kaduna for the initial stage.
According to her, she passed the blind audition, advanced from the battle round, and also survived the knockout stage.
“I was selected, I traveled to Kaduna for the competition, then came the blind audition Alhamdulillah I passed. Then we went into the battle round and I made it through again. After that came the knockout and Alhamdulillah I passed that too,” she narrated.
With the latest feat, Safiyya has secured a place in the Regional Finals billed to hold in Abuja.
“I can finally say I made it to Abuja for Regional finals,” she said.
The poet expressed gratitude to everyone who supported her journey.
“To everyone who has supported me, prayed for me, encouraged me, and believed in my talent, Thank you. This is not the end of the journey, its another beginning. Safiyya’s journey continues,” she added.
The MPS Media Poetry Challenge is one of the growing platforms spotlighting young northern voices in poetry and spoken word artistry.
