INVESTIGATION: How AriseTV Morning Show Favourite Guest, Anthony Kila, Falsified All Academic Qualifications From Bachelor’s To PhD — Premium Times

AriseTV Morning Show favourite guest, Anthony Kila, falsified all his academic qualifications from Bachelor’s to Doctorate degrees, a five-month investigation by Premium Times Nigeria has revealed.

According to the report published on October 10, 2026, by Qosim Suleiman, beyond faking his professorship, the suspended Pro-Chancellor of Michael and Cecilia Ibru University, MCIU, also fabricated the Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate degrees he claimed to have obtained from multiple universities in the United Kingdom and Italy.

Premium Times reports that Kila claimed he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Classic Studies from Università per Stranieri, Italy in 1989, Master of Arts in European Studies from the same institution in 1991, Postgraduate Diploma in Media and Communication from University of Essex in 1992, Master of Science in International Banking and Finance from City University London in 1994, PhD in Political Economy from University of Perugia in 1997, MBA from Aston University in 2002, Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education from Cambridge in 2006 and Master of Laws from Cambridge in 2009.

But all the claims were found to be false.

Universities Disown Him

Aston University told Premium Times: “There is no record in Aston University’s student registry of an Anthony Kila studying for an MBA.”

City St George’s, University of London said Kila enrolled in a one-year Banking and International Finance programme in 2000 but was “deregistered” on 30/06/2001 and did not complete it.

University of Essex said: “We do not offer this course, and we have not offered this course in the past,” referring to the PGD in Media and Communication.

University of Perugia said its Economics Department does not award doctoral degrees in Political Economy, while Università per Stranieri, Perugia, said it only began offering Bachelor’s degrees in 1992 and postgraduate degrees after 1999, making Kila’s 1989 BA and 1991 MA claims impossible. It only offered non-degree courses in Italian literature and arts at the time.

For his Cambridge claims, Premium Times found that Cambridge requires at least a first-class law degree for LLM admission, which Kila never had, and that its closest education certificate programme only started in 2017, not 2006 as claimed.

The newspaper also found that the European Centre for Advanced and Professional Studies, ECAPS, which Kila said made him a professor and Jean Monnet Professor in 2016, does not exist, while the European Education and Culture Executive Agency, EACEA, disowned his professorship.

Kila Responds

When presented with the findings, the AriseTV Morning Show regular said he was still gathering his documents.

“You are still on my case. I have been reading everything you have posted, and I still wonder who will benefit from my destruction,” Kila was quoted as saying via email.

“I am currently putting together my academic and professional documents, and they will be ready soon,” he added.

The investigation has raised serious questions about whether the popular TV analyst attended and completed any post-secondary institution at all, Premium Times reported.
