Worst Campaign Stump Ever — Rufai Oseni Blasts Tinubu’s Handlers Over “Disjointed” Speech At Kaduna Flag-Off

Arise News anchor, Rufai Oseni, has blasted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s campaign handlers over what he described as the worst campaign speech ever at the APC presidential flag-off in Kaduna.

Speaking on The Morning Show, Rufai said it was a terrible outing for a man who has spent close to four years in office but could not deliver a five-minute speech defending his policies.

“I think that was the worst campaign stump I’ve ever heard in my life by President Tinubu. I think it was the best decision not even campaigning in Kaduna, because that was a terrible one for the eyes and for the ears. A man that has spent close to four years could not even use five minutes,” Rufai said.

“Please, you APC bunch of guys around President Tinubu, you don’t even treat this man well. What has this man done to you?”

Rufai accused the APC Presidential Campaign Council of failing to write a structured speech for the President.

“In your campaign council, you cannot write him a five-minute speech that will give a summary and defend effectively the policies he’s made in the last five years? Is it that you can’t even print something for five minutes down for him? And you let him out like that in the slaughter slab? And you let him give such an embarrassing speech? What is wrong with you guys? Is this how much you are so concerned about just collecting money from him?” he queried.

He described Tinubu’s speech as disjointed and discoordinated, lacking cadence, ideology and punchlines.

“A speech where a man was so disjointed, so discoordinated to the extent that he couldn’t even articulate his thoughts. Then he now came back at the back, ‘Oh, you are talking about subsidy. Subsidy is gone forever.’ Then you made him give a very flawed argument by saying, ‘Eh, the poverty and the hunger is caused by them.’ There was no cadence, there was no status quo, there was no start, there was no finish, there was no big push, there was no ideology, there were no anaphorisms, there were no big punchlines. You just allow a man like that to ad-lib at the inaugural campaign speech?” Rufai said.

“After four years in office, where he needs to make a great defense — what did you guys do to him? I feel for President Tinubu this morning. That was a grossly underwhelming speech,” he added.

Flawed Defence On Poverty

Rufai faulted Tinubu’s claim that opposition parties caused poverty and hunger, saying the argument points back to the President himself.

“All the arguments were flawed. It points back to him. Who brought 62% of poverty? Is it not President Tinubu? Is it not his decisions? Then he spoke, then he rambled on, finished speaking, then he left. So what was the essence of the Kaduna rally? What was passed on? What was the message?” he asked.

He said the poor outing leaves Tinubu open to attacks from opponents like Atiku Abubakar.

“And that’s why the likes of Atiku Abubakar and co could easily eviscerate him,” he said.

APC Must Bring Manifesto

Rufai demanded that APC must present a manifesto for the next four years, warning that anyone saying APC should not bring a manifesto is an agent of opposition to the party.

“If a leader cannot articulate his ideas, he can’t tell you where he’s going, he can’t even make promises… If he claims that all the promises he has made before he has fulfilled them, so where’s the next level? He can’t even tell you about the next level, then there’s a problem. So, is this hanky-panky we are playing with economic numbers?” Rufai said.
