Police Confirm 7:30pm Killing Of Sheikh Yahaya Masussuka In Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed the killing of prominent Islamic scholar, Sheikh Yahaya Ibrahim Masussuka, and his friend, Adamu Abubakar, by suspected armed gunmen in Dutsin-Ma.

The Command said the incident occurred on Monday, October 26, 2026, at about 7:30pm, in front of the scholar’s residence in Dutsin-Ma LGA, when two armed men riding on a motorcycle opened fire, fatally injuring both victims.

In a press release signed by Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the Command said upon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer, Dutsin-Ma, promptly led a team of operatives to the scene.

“The victims were immediately rushed to the nearest hospital for medical attention, where they were unfortunately pronounced dead by the attending medical doctor,” the statement said.

Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Umar Fage, has ordered deployment of tactical and operational teams to the area.

“An investigation has commenced, and efforts are being intensified to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects,” the police said.

CP Fage extended condolences to families, friends and followers of the deceased and the people of Dutsin-Ma LGA.

“The Command will not relent until the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice,” he assured.

Police said further developments will be communicated.
