Finally After Atiku, Obi Failed To Agree On One Candidate — Tinubu Must Go Group Adopts Atiku As Sole Candidate After 73% Poll Victory
Convener of the Tinubu Must Go (TMG) movement, Barrister Abba Hikima Fagge, has announced the adoption of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the opposition’s sole presidential candidate after Atiku and Peter Obi failed to produce a joint ticket.
Fagge, who spoke in a video broadcast after conducting a massive public opinion poll, said the decision became necessary to prevent vote-splitting that could hand President Bola Tinubu an easy victory in 2027.
“I am taking this opportunity to state that the results that are already out, regarding the public opinion poll we conducted, where 73% of those who cast their votes voted for the alliance candidate, Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi over Peter Obi and Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. This shows where public opinion is leaning,” Abba said.
He said prior to the poll, the group had called on opposition leaders to unite themselves, but since they failed to do so, supporters must unite first.
“Prior to this, we indicated that the public must unite, or the main candidates themselves should unite first. If they fail to unite, we understand that there is a need for us to unite, so that we can select a unified ticket that will prevent the splitting of our votes,” he stated.

According to convener, the live Facebook poll garnered over 109,000 votes and was reshared nearly 10,000 times, with Atiku/Obi ticket securing 73.6% against 24% for the Obi/Kwankwaso ticket, a margin he described as huge and decisive.
“Thank God, the results and victory recorded for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar are significant, because a margin between 73% and 24% represents a very huge gap and significant lead,” he said.
Fagge clarified that his decision to adopt Atiku is not out of hatred for Peter Obi or Rabiu Kwankwaso, whom he considers better than Tinubu, but out of love for Nigeria and the North and the need to liberate the country from hardship.
“It is not out of personal malice toward Peter Obi’s ticket, as he has done nothing wrong to me, nor is it because I dislike him. Rather, it is out of love for Nigeria, my love for my region in the North, and my love for my people who need to be liberated from this oppressive administration which we are deeply dissatisfied with,” he said.
Addressing allegations that the poll was rigged and did not represent Nigeria, Fagge defended its integrity, saying no one can manipulate a Facebook Poll and that it was conducted live for everyone to see.
“Anyone familiar with how Facebook Polls work knows that no single individual can prevent others from voting for their preferred choice. I created the poll myself, yet I do not personally know the 109,000+ people who participated. Even if it doesn’t fully capture the entire nation’s voter sentiment, at the very least, it highlights the sentiment of the people in Northern Nigeria, which is a massive voting demographic and a decisive factor in determining who becomes the President,” he argued.
He called on all opposition supporters to set aside personal interests and rallied behind Atiku, saying politics is a game of numbers.
“Politics is fundamentally a game of numbers. Unity is our best path forward, and it is far easier to rally around the candidate who is already leading in the polls. If Alhaji Atiku Abubakar holds 70% support, and we add even a fraction more to guarantee electoral victory, then our Tinubu Must Go initiative has achieved a monumental task,” Fagge declared.
“We urge all supporters to set aside personal interests and unite behind this joint ticket for the sake of God, to liberate our nation, and to secure a brighter future for ourselves, our children, and our parents,” he added.
