“I Spent Over N200k, Grounded For 5 Hours At Abuja Airport” — Passenger Slams Air Peace, Says No Difference Between Airports And Bus Terminals

A Nigerian air traveler, Muhammad Elbildad Isah, has decried the state of aviation and security in the country, describing operations at Nigerian airports as chaotic, unorganized and highly unprofessional.

Isah, who took to social media to vent his frustration, said there is no difference between airports and bus terminals in Nigeria.

“Nothing works in +234!!! But the worst is security and aviation. In fact, nothing works!!! I don’t know if it is the airline industry or the regulatory bodies, but there is no difference between our airports and bus terminals, for their operational modules is the same, absolutely chaotic, unorganized and highly unprofessional,” he wrote.

According to him, the worst part is that there are no apologies, no compensation and no consequences whatsoever for the delays.

Recounting his ordeal at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, Isah said he had been at the airport since 4:00pm for a 5:50pm flight that cost him over N200,000, but was still grounded as of 9:43pm — more than five hours delay.

“I have been in Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport since 4:00pm, 9:43 as at time of writing this post for a flight that I spent over 200k to book and was scheduled for 5:50pm same day. How would you ground us for more than 5 hours???” he lamented.

He called on regulatory bodies to mandate airlines that cannot handle their traffic to scale down their routes and focus on their strengths.

“If Air Peace or any Aviator cannot handle its traffic, our regulatory bodies should mandate them to scale down their route and focus on their strengths. It is an unfortunate situation,” he said.
