Wife of Senator Shehu Buba’s Media Aide Cries Out Over Husband’s Disappearance After Secret Mission to Niger Republic

Halima Adamu Aliyu, the wife of Hon. Abdullahi Ori—a legislative media aide to Bauchi South lawmaker Senator Shehu Buba Umar—has raised an alarm over the mysterious disappearance of her husband, who has been missing for over a year following a clandestine assignment to Niger Republic.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with human rights activist and journalist A. Rabon Kanawa, Mrs. Aliyu recounted how her husband received a phone call from Senator Buba on August 28, 2025, ordering him to immediately travel to Damaturu to apprehend a fleeing suspect identified as ‘Hassan’.

According to Mrs. Aliyu, her husband departed Mararaba in a vehicle provided by the Senator’s office alongside a Yoruba associate named Abdulsalam Abdulwahab (popularly known as ‘Wabi’). Upon reaching the border region, Hon. Ori informed his wife that the target had crossed into Niger Republic, necessitating his cross-border tracking mission.

“He called to tell me the target had fled to Niger Republic and that he would have to cross over to pursue him,” Mrs. Aliyu stated. “For months, he sent money for household upkeep while repeatedly promising to return alongside the Senator. However, five days before the Eid festivities during Ramadan, his phone line went completely dead after he told me he was stepping out to break his fast.”

The situation took a terrifying turn when a viral video circulated by social media content creator D English Alhaji featured the whistleblower ‘Hassan’ alleging that Hon. Ori had been arrested and detained in a Nigerien prison. Hassan claimed that Ori was sent on a bounty mission to capture him, only to be detained alongside Hassan in Niger.

Mrs. Aliyu expressed anguish over the toll her husband’s absence has taken on their young family, including seven young daughters, the eldest of whom is only nine years old. She noted that efforts by family members to meet directly with Senator Shehu Buba for answers have proven abortive, with relatives claiming the matter is “beyond their control.”

“I am not asking for money or conflict,” Mrs. Aliyu pleaded. “Just as the Senator called my husband and sent him on this errand, I am begging him and the public to ensure my husband is returned home safely to his wife and children.”
